Solaris 10 setup cheat sheet, some miscellaneous commands and various odds and ends…

Some odds and ends:

  1. Disable GUI from starting at boot: /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -d (/usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e to reenable it)
  2. Register with Sun network by creating a file (e.g. regprofile.txt) with the following:
    userName=[Sun username]
    password=[Sun password]
    hostName=[your machine's hostname]
    subscriptionKey=
    portalEnabled=false

    and then running the command sconadm register -a -r /path/to/regprofile.txt

  3. apply patches: smpatch update, smpatch analyze, etc.
  4. add route to talk to WAN: route add default [ip address], route change default [ip address]
